20. (28411-!-item-!-188;#058&003617)

For years the beautiful Renaissance buildings in Palitito have been damaged by exhaust from the many tour buses that come to the city. There has been little parking space, so most buses have idled at the curb during each stop on their tour, and idling produces as much exhaust as driving. The city has now provided parking that accommodates a third of the tour buses, so damage to Palitito's buildings from the buses' exhaust will diminish significantly.

Which of the following, if true, most strongly supports the argument?

(A) The exhaust from Palitito's few automobiles is not a significant threat to Palitito's buildings.
(B) Palitito's Renaissance buildings are not threatened by pollution other than engine exhaust.
(C) Tour buses typically spend less than one-quarter of the time they are in Palitito transporting passengers from one site to another.
(D) More tourists come to Palitito by tour bus than by any other single means of transportation.
(E) Some of the tour buses that are unable to find parking drive around Palitito while their passengers are visiting a site.

I select the option D, according to D, we can think tour bus is unique to the tourist,it 's the rootcause, the plan could be useful with option D.

On the other hand, is there any one can let know the meaning of the "accommodates a third of the tour buses" sorry, i do not get it very clearly.

"A third of buses " what i got to interpret is that one third of total buses that arrive at the spot.

(A) The exhaust from Palitito's few automobiles is not a significant threat to Palitito's buildings. -- [what is significant threat and wht not is not our concern]

(B) Palitito's Renaissance buildings are not threatened by pollution other than engine exhaust. -- [Nope it uses extreme language ]

(C) Tour buses typically spend less than one-quarter of the time they are in Palitito transporting passengers from one site to another. -- [It states that max time of buses is spend hovering at the spot , that is parking time , so the allocation of parking space has reduced thehovering of buses near the Palitito and now some buses can be parked, reducing the pollution from them ]

(D) More tourists come to Palitito by tour bus than by any other single means of transportation. -- [This says that buses are arriving at the Palitito , we already know that .]

(E) Some of the tour buses that are unable to find parking drive around Palitito while their passengers are visiting a site. -- [Well this is close as this is the reason why buses are running around the Palitito , but note the question , its asking which one supports the taken action ]

You are wrong about D as the question is not asking about the root cause but its asking which of the option supports the argument .

Hope that helps
Thanks & Regards,
