I chose E but that was clearly wrong. I'll post the OA after a few folks

I would chose C

from which derive.....alphabets
since alphabets is plural, derive is correct


from which derive is a correct idiomatic expression

OA is C.

The "which" in A and B modify "it" while it should be modifying
the script.

D uses singular "derives" - incorrect

E changes the meaning with "deriving from it". It wasn't the empire that
derived the northern and southern Indian alphabets.
