Since you have supplied the asnwer so I will follow the negation approach:

A: First is not saying that the stretegy mentioned next is counterproductive. It is not arguing rather it is supporting.

B: First is not supporting the strategy that the argument recommends. Strategy recommended by the argument is at the end.

D: First is not an assumption rejected by the argument. There is no mentioned about technological advances later for rejection.

E:
I think, You assumed goal to be making maximum profits.
but this goal is not rejected at the end. The suggested strategy is to make more profits than mentioned with boldface lines.

Please let me know if you choose different goal.
