More and more holidaymakers

by nahid078 » Sat Jul 04, 2015 11:40 am
More and more holidaymakers are choosing to fly to remote islands in search of the perfect beach; seeking sand, sun and palm trees, rather than centers of entertainment.

A. ; seeking sand, sun and palm trees, rather than centers of entertainment.
B. ; seeking sad, sun, palm trees and not entertainment.
C. , with sand, sun, palm trees and no entertainment.
D. , they seek sand, sun and palm trees, rather than entertainment centers.
E. ; they seek sand, sun and palm trees, rather than centers of entertainment.

Hi nahid078,

Please verify that the question and choices are correct. Taking the post as is, choice D cannot be correct. Reason - two independent clauses cannot be joined by a comma. A semicolon is needed to join 2 independent clauses in this case. Choice E would more likely be the answer.

Hi ,

I also think that option E is best.

Can you please confirm OA?

Thanks

Hi,

Even I feel E should be the answer.D makes the second clause completely independent in meaning but without a sentence connector.

Regards.
