1. What is the value of absolute|x| ?

1)x= -|x|
2)xsq =4

my answer was E

because from 1 absolute x can give nothing.2 gives us +-2 now when go to C we will have both

-(-2)=2
-(2)=-2 hence E.....what is your answer

theory used

|a|= -a and
|a|= a

1) x= -|x|
2) x² = 4
Statement 1: x = -|x|
It's possible that x=0, in which case |x| = |0| = 0.
It's possible that x=-1, in which case |x| = |-1| = 1.
Since |x| can be different values, INSUFFICIENT.

Statement 2: x² = 4, implying that x = ±2.
If x=2, then |x| = |2| = 2.
If x=-2, then |x| = |-2| = 2.
Thus, |x| = 2.
SUFFICIENT.

The correct answer is B.
