Are average annual salaries marginally going up?

B-schools like IIM Indore, FMS Delhi and XLRI Jamshedpur reported marginal increase in average salary with respective increment of 0.24 per cent, 1.12 per cent and 0.30 per cent. On the other hand, the average salary offered to the batch of 2014 was among the highest with Rs. 16.18 lakh per annum and Rs. 16.25 lakh per annum respectively. SPJIMR Mumbai has so far received the highest average salary of Rs. 17.2 lakh per annum which is 6.63% higher compared to that of last year, which was Rs. 16.13 lakh per annum, and S P Jain Global with the highest salary of Rs. 18.3 lacs for Global MBA and Rs. 15.2 lacs.

That is very heartening to see. In fact, I have been following the news reports of this year's placement season in the newspapers and they are all talking about hikes and salary rise. This is quite motivating!

Hey! Which reports are you referring to? Could you please share some links as I might want to do my own research?
I guess the right way to check the authenticity of these figures is to:
1) First check the website of the institutions to see what they are claiming.
2) To check third party sites like the ones you are referring to match it with the claims. This will help you to be able to understand if you are making the right decision! Speaking from my experience.

Yep agreed! But I was referring to a lot of news links circulating around about rise in salaries and placement figures.
