Here is a SC question from Kaplan CAT2 I stumbled upon.

1) at the urging of his own doctor, his chief advisers, and a coalition of some
2) as a consequence of having been urged by his own doctor, his chief advisers, and a coalition of some
3) on account of being urged by his own doctor, chief advisers, and a coalition of
4) as he was urged to do by his own doctor, his chief advisers, and a coalition of some
5) as his own doctor was urging him to do, along with his chief advisers, and a coalition of

avoid passive form of senteces. Choice 4 is passive. Try to pick sentences that are in active form ....

was urged, was pulled, was sentenced, was fired ( wrong since passive )

urging, pulling, setencing, firing ... are active forms with corresponding appropriate subjects.

Thanks California4jx!

Could you be more specific on when to avoid passive form?

I am guessing there might be situations where passive might be more appropriate.

Thoughts?

'at the urging of' is more concise than 'as he was urged to do by '. In most SCs, I can eliminate the wrong answers looking for less wordy options.
