Hi,

I thought that the answer was D but actually the correct answer is E. The reason I picked D) is to match the tense "have PP". Could anyone explain how come D is wrong??

Although all the proceedings of the Communist party conference held in Moscow were not carried live, Soviet audiences have seen a great deal of coverage.

(A) all the proceedings of the Communist party conference held in Moscow were not carried live
(B) all the Communist party conference’s Moscow proceedings were not carried live
(C) all the Communist party conference Moscow proceedings have not been carried alive
(D) not all the Communist party conference Moscow proceedings have been carried alive
(E) not all the proceedings of the Communist party conference held in Moscow were carried live

C and D have "carried alive" which doesn't mean anything similar to "carried live". Alive is used only to indicate life.

I seee. I did not even notice that. I thought there should be one more mistake in D) other than the tense. Thank you for clarifying.

C and D are faulty; the use of the word alive here is incorrect. B also sounds incorrect since it alters the entire meaning of the sentence. Between A and E, E sounds correct

I think you are wrong. Between A and E, E sounds right and doesn't affect the meaning of the sentence.
