Hi All,

I got a 690 on my GMAT recently(Q-50, V-33).

Not that magic mark !!! but still i am satisfied... Very Happy

I am a guy from Engineering background. So, i think this Gap in above 2 scores is not new in this thread.. Cool

QUANT:
My Experiance in quant was a bit tough though.. Shocked

I used to get 48-51 in practice tests... However, on exam day,
I spent almost 4 minutes each on 2nd and 3rd question(i think i guessed one of them)...and after that, i got some easy questions. This made me a bit tensed.
But i used to save enough time in prep tests at the end..so the thought gave me some confidence.... and rest things went fine. I could feel difficulty level going high in later questions.

VERBAL:
My Verbal score was expected in initial thirties.. (was getting near 30 in all preps)... I scored 33 in exam..

I joined Princeton, but i think it was not useful for me, Manhattan SC and other books are more useful..

About me:

I am working in a software company in India with 2 years Exp. as for now.
My Eng degree was 68%(Electrical)..
I am fine in extra curriculars(Won a few prizes Dance, Sports etc at college level and Participated in two State/National Olympiads at school level )

My targeted colleges will include one's with Good financial aid (Not that desperate for top schools.. but aid + School Rank will be important factor for me )

Please suggest me 1) if you could give me a few names that i could look for 2) Need suggestions on which MBA i should go with...and 3) if i should wait for another year to apply(so as to add another year to my exp and make it some 3.5+ )

Thanks!!!
Rachit.

Congrats Dude,

I would like you to ponder few things,

1) If you are an IIM(Indian IT Male) like myself...going for a lesser univ is inversely proportional to your chance of getting H1B post MBA.
2) Still if you want to plunge then look for regional UNIV's. What I can suggest from my cubicle-bound experience... try Charlotte NC if you wanna go for big banks(BOA,WAC etc), Try Austin/Dallas, TX for Tech related jobs,Try Upstate NY for Finance etc...These are pockets of US where still gas price is a little less than $4 and UNIV are popular within the region.

Hope that will help.

Regards,

Hi cubicle_bound_misfit,
I liked the IIM part ... hehe good stuff..
I didnt understand exactly what you meant by inversely proportional. So your saying that applying to these " lesser"univ's is detrimental to our post mba H1B chances?. I got a 710 a couple of days back and want to pursue finance. I'm an IIM Wink
