What is the correct usage of "Distinguish/Distinguishes"?
distinguish X from Y
or
distinguish between X and Y
I have found explainations and examples in support of each case. But I am unable to find a rule. |

Distinguish between X and Y (2 very different items, distinguished, say red and green colors) Some color blind people cannot distinguish between red and green
Distinguish X from Y (Two pretty similar items, say original paintings from fake ones) |
