Hi all,

I took the GMAT and scored 620 - so I will be retaking it again. The score report does not make sense to me - maybe someone can explain.

Quant: Scaled score = 39. Percentile = 58.
Verbal: Scaled score = 36. Percentile = 80.
Total: 620. Percentile: 76.

How come my quantitative scaled score is higher than the verbal scaled score but the quantitative percentile is less than the verbal percentile.

Can anyone explain this?

Thank all.

percentile as nothing to do with the score. percentile means HOW MANY OTHERS (in terms of %) you did better than

so, Q percentile of 58, means that you did better than 58% of the people who took the exam. I'm not sure if it's people who took teh SAME exam as you, or what.

it means more people score higher than 39 in q. than people score higher than 38 in v.

that means 39 in q is just an average score. while 38 in v is superb.

percentile is based on GMAT test takers of last ~2 years. (sorry not sure of exact period)
