Hi

Could you evaluate my chances of getting admitted into top 5 or 10 univs?

GPA - 8.5/10
major - electircal engg
school - one of India's best unviersities

GMAT - 780 (q-50 , v-47 , awa-5)

CAREER - been working in cisco for 1 year. Have not done anything extraordinary at workplace.

extracurricular involvements - the normal stuff. nothing exceptional

I have contacted Wharton and CBS adcomms and both have denied having a minimum required work experience for their courses. Both have asserted that students with 0 work experience have also secured admissions in the past.

Location is not a concern but I require the university to provide good career services. Also, I have not decided which area to specialize in but I am considering finance a good option.

Dear kasakimasaki,

Based on your post, you have a strong academic profile (GMAT score and GPA). However, the academic profile alone will not gain you admission to any MBA program. With a common overall profile and less than 2 years of work experience, it is imperative you present a compelling case to be admitted and positively distinguish yourself from the applicant pool. Also, candidates with less than 2 years of work experience need to directly address why they feel they are ready for the MBA now and how it fits into their overall career plan.

Good luck,
Lisa
