Hi All,

I just started with my GMAT preparations and will be giving it on 11Aug - roughly 120 days left

Based on posts from most of the people in this group, i plan to cover the following

- OG 10 and 11
- Kaplan
- Princeton
- Questions from ScoreTop website
- Around 20 odd CATs before the D-Day

Area of strength
- CR
- DS
- PS (at least that is something i would like to beleive)

Area of weakness
- SC
- SC
and again SC

Plan to work only on my basics for a month and then start with actual problem solving

and oh BTW - my target is minium 720 Smile

Wish me luck

Adios

-SM

I think 120 days is a lot of time to prepare for the exam. I would suggest a lot of simulated practice tests to improve on aspects which we most of the times overlook.

If Sentence Correction is a weak area for you, I suggest purchasing the MGMAT Sentence Correction Guide.

Funny story and thanks for fellow boarders on beatthemat

I had thought of giving GMAT last year, although i was not fully prepared - but still thought of giving a few mock tests, on basis on which i would decide whether to go ahead or not

So, I ended up giving a mock test and scored a lousy - 580 - hence very discouraged and dropped the idea last year. Only to realise this year after reading the Blogs that I had given a Kaplan test last year, which is considered very tough and you should add around 100, in order to get a more accurate picture of your performance.............Sad, such is life

Message of the story - do all background research before starting anything

Thanks,
SM

Just one bit of advice - don't put off GMAT-type problem solving for a month. You could be studying the wrong things or in the wrong way and not know it for a month!

Instead, study discrete pieces of info and then try some problems that test that info. Eg, study algebra, then do some algebra GMAT problems. Make sure that you not only know how to do the math in general, but can also apply that info to GMAT-type problems and use proper problem-solving techniques.
