|
|
Hello friends!
I am thinking of making a thread comprising of all basic FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) about GMAT.
Questions like: Is calculator allowed for GMAT test?
whose answers are known and rigid(fixed).
For opinions we (members) can always start a new thread but for repeatitive questions whose answers are ^standard^ we (they) should refer to the FAQ thread.
I'll start it in GMAT strategy section and in future make it sticky.
While I think I can make this all by my own, I would love to receive some responses here and some suggestions.
If you have some suggestions & some FAQs which you think should be in this thread.
Just reply here and suggest me the questions you think should appear in FAQ section.
Newbies or GMAT destroyers all are welcome [& this applies to MODERATORS as well! _________________ Beating GMAT & beyond | Do you Aim-WSC?

Here are some tips for the FAQ:
i. The number of questions you get wrong has very little bearing on your final score, you can make 12 - 14 mistakes on the quant portion of the test and still end up with a q48 or q49! The verbal section is a bit less forgiving, but it's still possible to do very well despite a few mistakes. A lot of questions wrong does not necessarily also mean a low score.
ii. You can take the GMAT abroad, however if you're taking the GMAT outside your country of citizenship, make sure you bring in your passport to the test center on test day! Be prepared to be fingerprinted at least 2-3 times during the course of the exam. |

1) Every question on the GMAT is equally important. GMAT randomly places research questions that don't contribute to your final score but are used by GMAC for testing in the future. These questions cannot be distinguished from the questions that contribute towards your final score. Therefore, the first x questions are no more important than the last x questions.
2) Do not use your cellphone when you're at the test center. Using a cell phone during the breaks of a test can lead to a cancellation of your test with no refunds. |
