• Essay A: What matters most to you, and why?

Stacey and others:

I actually thought one could write about what matters most in life in terms of values and experiences but then I read on one of the mba boards that this question should really be about tying together your work experiences. Is that really the case? One would think there is enough about work experience in why u want to go to stanford and your resume ...?

I would love some direction here.

Thanks again

I have seen MANY successful essays that do not mention work AT ALL. This is definitely meant to be a personal essay. If your career ties in to some extent, great, but it should not necessarily be the focus. There are really no rules for this very open essay, but if there is one, it is to not focus it solely on career!

Ideally, your chosen career would be meaningful, so it would in some way tie in to what matters most...but, again, it would not be the only focus.
