Please provide an explanation for your choice...

Dr. A: The new influenza vaccine is useless at best and possibly dangerous. I would never use it on a patient.
Dr. B: But three studies published in the Journal of Medical Associates have rated that vaccine as unusually effective.
Dr. A: The studies must have been faulty because the vaccine is worthless.

In which of the following is the reasoning most similar to that of Dr. A?
(A) Three of my patients have been harmed by that vaccine during the past three weeks, so the vaccine is unsafe.

(B) Jerrold Jersey recommends this milk, and I don’t trust Jerrold Jersey, so I won’t buy this milk.

(C) Wingzz tennis balls perform best because they are far more effective than any other tennis balls.

(D) I’m buying Vim Vitamins. Doctors recommend them more often than they recommend any other vitamins, so Vim Vitamins must be good.

I thought B is similar to the reasoning. Dr.A refutes a conclusion because he does not trust the evidence.

Ah!... I too chose B but according to "Answer Key" it is wrong the correct answer is C.

I feel the answer key is wrong unless someone can give a plausible reason for C.

E seems right. The problem tests circular reasoning. The person says that he says vaccine are bad and is evaluating fresh evidence regarding the vaccine by assuming the vaccine is bad and therefore the study must be wrong. This is 'begging the question'.

likewise, the tennis balls are good...because they are most effective. thats circular reasoning.

lets us take the process fo elimination.

(A) Three of my patients have been harmed by that vaccine during the past three weeks, so the vaccine is unsafe. --this is statistical resoning which is similar to Dr B reasoning but not A

(B) Jerrold Jersey recommends this milk, and I don’t trust Jerrold Jersey, so I won’t buy this milk. ----- this completely out of scope as the resoning is based on the recommendation which is not mentioned by DrA

---here this is proper reasoning that as all people from a particular university are scoring 20 percent higher and hence even Sheila Lee, will score

hence the remaining is C. just Like Dr A's reasoning it is mentioning the particular thing is BEst/Worst and hence it is not effective/dangerous

I hope my reasoning makes some sense.Please corect me if I am wrong
