in the number line the distance between X & Y is greater than the distance between X & Z.Does Z lie between X & Y on the number line?

1--xyz<0

2-- xy<0.

Can anyone please explain.........

The answer is E.

1. since XYZ<0, either they're all negative or one of them is negative. Z may or may not lie between X & Y. INSUFF

2. Since XY<0, either X or Y is negative. INSUFF

Together, we're able to deduce that Z is positive. Z could be positive and yet it may or may not be between X & Y. INSUFF
