Hello Friends,
I got an admit from ESSEC B-School Paris( A very reputed B-School in France, but little known beyond Europe!).
Below are some of the data points :
Nationality : Indian
GMAT : 710
Number of years of Work Exp : None( I am in my final year of Engineering )
Post MBA Plans : Energy Sector(In France)
But friends, these are simply statistical data. There is so much more in a B-School Application. Although, each B-School offers a very similar course structure yet they are so different. It was really hard for me to understand this issue. I belong to the Indian Engineer category(not from the IT Sector!) and the only problem with us is that we only consider marks and scores to be the only criteria to get into a School of our choice. And we are not to be blamed completely for this atitude. This is because, right from a very small age, we grow up in an extremely competitive environment. Approximately a half a million students compete for the 10,000 best spots in undergraduate courses. You fail to lose the subject of your choice just because of 0.01% less marks.
I didn't follow any typical formula. Just listen to your heart. If you are passionate about what you want to do, its definitely reflected in your essays and in your personal interviews. Some tips I feel may be helpful for those who are applying.
GMAT : Get over your GMAT ASAP. It is just one of the criteria for evaluation. A 700+ score puts you in the middle 80% range of most of the schools.
To write essays and to perform well in interview you need to be well-informed about the school you are applying, its culture and its offerings. B-School presentations are the best way to met the representatives in person. Try to reach out to the alumini and ask them what special does their B-school has to offer. Keep browsing their website for regular updates and happenings.
Tip for International candidates applying to European B-Schools:
If you intend to work in the same country after your MBA, keep yourself informed about the daily happenings of your targeted sector. This will not only help you to draft great essays and perform well in interview, it will be a kind of realisation for you too that whether a particular School fits you or not.
Last but not least, I want to thank my family and (my extended family: my gf ), my friends and this wonderful community for support me all through my journey. Thanks a lot!

Congratulations! I was actually looking into ESSEC a while back because of their MBA in International Luxury Brand Management. It's still on the table - would be great to live abroad for a bit.
Good Luck!

Yes, ESSEC is still known for its MBA in International Luxury Brand, however there are plenty of other course offerings as well. I would recommend you to thoroughly go through their website and check out the best one for you. You can always reach out to their admissions team, they are pretty supportive, I am sure they will help you out.Congratulations! Well, the application process isn't very troublesome. Just like other MBA programs the requirement are the same.CONGRATULATIONS for this huge success .. would appreciate if you can manage to provide some insight to application work and some snapshot of the interview...
GMAT Score : They say that the range of score is from 650-700. But depending upon which demographic region you belong to, like for India and china : the scores are usually over 700!
ESSAYS and Recommendations (Refer to their website for more details)
Interview : A panel Interview : If you are well aware of what you want to do and where you are headed in future, so interview won't be a big trouble. Interview can basically be a deal-breaker because they already like for that reason they have called you for the interview. So,don't screw that Up
Hope this Helps

Yes the MBA Luxe specialization was a big component for me since that's the industry that I'm in now.

hey Karan,
Firstly, congrats for gettin into such a reputed b-school as a fresh graduate. Actually, I am also a fresh graduate and I have jst started preparing for GMAT. I came to know abt this b-school just 2-3 days back. So, can you please guide me thru as u hav alrdy succedded in what I am planning to go for. If u dun mind, can I hav ur email id to stay in touch wid u. I understand one thing clearly, tha unlike CAT n other exams, applying for MBA abroad requires a very holistic approach. I am not too concernec about the GMAT part but would like to gain some insights on other relevant issues from u that can help me in getting into a good b-school.

Karan: Thanks for the invite! I think I'll be going to the MIF program from Amsterdam Business School though - I've decided to postpone an MBA and just go for a one-year masters in finance for the moment. All the best!

Congrats Karan.
How did you go about identifying the differentiating factors of the school? Talking to an alumnus is one of the ways. What other ways did you get info?each B-School offers a very similar course structure yet they are so different. It was really hard for me to understand this issue.
