Straight from College

I was wondering what % of your typical Top 30 MBA programs come straight from undergrad programs (i.e. students without full-time work experience).

Also, do they tend to look at different things than your typical applicant (such as more of a stress on GPA, extra-curriculars, etc.)?

Thanks so much!

Hi -

Generally speaking, the number of students with no work experience entering MBA programs is quite low but they do exist at most schools. They tend to be reserved for exceptional candidates who can clearly articulate why business school makes sense immediately after college. Further, HBS has a 2+2 program through which a rising senior can apply to HBS and is admitted for entry after graduation plus two years of work experience.

They will look at your GPA, grades, extracurricular and community service activities with some focus on leadership in those roles as well as your GMAT, summer internships, etc.

Hope that helps!
