Stocks c

All of the stocks on the over the counter market are designated by either a 4 or 5 letter code that is created by using the 26 letters of the alphabet. WHich of the foll gives the max no of different stocks that can be desinated with these codes?

2(26^5)
26(26^4)
27(26^4)
26(26^5)
27(26^5)

The answer would be 26*25*24*23 * 26*25*24*23*22
But can someone pls explain the smart way to boil it down to the answer choices?

Here is the trick: the question never mentions that the alphabets can't be repeated. Thats why it is 26*26*26*26 + 26*26*26*26*26
