If k not equal to 0,1, or -1, is (1/k) >0?
1) (1/k-1) > 0
2) (1/k+1) >0 |

Hmm let me know if this is right.
The question can be rephrased to is K>1 or is 0<K<1 because those 2 conditions are the only ones we care about.
stmt 1 tells you that K<1, but you don't know whether K<0 so insufficient
For example, if K = 1/3 then K < 1 and 1/K > 0, but if K = -1/3 then K < 1 but 1/K < 0
stmt 2 tells you that 1/K > -1 --> K>-1. This stmt is sufficient because all numbers less than -1 will make 1/K < 0.
So I think the answer is B.

k is not 0, 1 or -1.
1/k > 0
1) 1/(k-1) > 0 this means that k is positive and larger than 1, if it were not true, 1/k <=0, so it's sufficient.
2)1/(k+1)>0 this means that k is eitherpositive or a negative number between -1 and 0, so if k=-0.1 1/k would not be <0, but if k=1.1 1/k > 0 , so not sufficient. Answer is A |
