great initiative Mr beatthegmat.
The Essay writing is inevitable part of any person, at any stage; be it on wannabe MBA /MBA student /or a Manager....
so awarding a $$ gift certificate for wiriting an essay is better decision.
dear members, readers,
You have this opportunity to show your writing skills.
And to post your essay,
get qualified. be proactive. Take initiative, form new threads; ask you queries;post your suggestions Be proactive; you lose nothing if you do so, if anything you will gain some valuable information, knowledge, radical strategies that would help you beat the GMAT
GET QUALIFIED.
also i am not just appealing to the people who are preparing for the test, this also applies to vets who already taken the test ( to name the few Vitali, Fei)
this site 's indeed not for GMAT its "GMAT & BEYOND"
so people who have already taken the test, ( i know they are helping others to beat the GMAT as well.) you have other job ahead;
& i am sure you would get some if not much info you need.
Share your knowledge about the B-schools / students life and other extra GMATer topics
I think Essay comes at every step of your carrier right from GMAT AWA to writing a business plan for your venture.
so;
GET INVOLVED.
BE PROACTIVE. &
GET QUALIFIED. _________________ Beating GMAT & beyond

regarding this particular essay:
Eric, you said that its from Standford admission essay.
So do we need to write it in all formal english as if we are applying to Stanford?
you said earlier in your post that any sort of essay be it humorous is welcomed. _________________ Beating GMAT & beyond

Writing in formal English is not a requirement. But some folks may want to treat it is a practice for their real admission essays.
I'll leave it to you to decide. Thanks. _________________ Eric

Hey Eric,
Interesting topic, but I have to say- you're kind of limiting people's chances to write this.
I'll be writing a response, but it'll be limited to the 5 hours I was awake post watching it on TV (I live in India).
Maybe you should think about a change of topic? Perhaps an experience that isn't restricted to a particular day or date?
I must say though, that it's mighty nice of you to hand out 50$ a month- what with server costs and all that.
All the best.
Thanks for the feedback. I understand that this topic is biased towards Americans--but I would be interested in hearing an international perspective on this event.
I really wish to keep the topic the way it is; I think a ton of folks would be interested in reading peoples' responses. |
Eric how about trying a hand on creativity
Now it would be toooooooo much of me if i say something like " i was the victim etc etc. " so no creativity from me.
you hav made my chances this time harder surely i couldnt respond to the essay .............i was too watching it on TV.
(oh i could hav written a nice story on this. :p)
I am happy to see the great happenings on the beatthegmat on my leaving days i can safely say goodbye to this forum for a while.
New members are actually taking part in the disscussions keep it up guys will catch you soon. this might be my last log for this year....
Oh sour grapes...( johny, why dont you confess that writing 9/11 essay is tough for you )
sour grapes..
whatever you assume.
All the best. _________________ Beating GMAT & beyond

Hi
Why do we need to have 30 posts in order to participate in 50$? Any reasons???
I want to participate, but unfortunately I have only 6 posts (this post is also included).

Hi uzferaksay:
The reason why I require a 30-post minimum is that I want to make sure that this scholarship goes to an active contributor of this community. Unlike other GMAT forums, I do not ask for money to grant access to "special" sections--and to the best of my knowledge Beat The GMAT! is the only GMAT community that exists where all profits are given back to its members.
The only thing I ask is your participation.
Thanks for asking, and I look forward to reading your essay submission either this month or next month! _________________ Eric
