Hey, I took the GMAT in May 2012 and scored a 680 (Q=49, V=34). Thinking that i can do better, i took the GMAT again in early Aug 2012, but got the same score 680 !!
I scored 720 above in GMAT practice tests and Manhattan test consistently, but the final scores dropped.
I have strong extra curriculars and good academics throughout an im doing final year Engineering from a reputed college. I want to know about my chances in colleges like Hrvard, Chicago Booth, Standford etc for the 2+2 programs these universities offer.
Please let me know how badly will the low score ( twice ) affect my candidature. Also, how can i justify my low verbal score if im telling the universities that my book ( In english ) is going to be published soon.
Awaiting response. Thanks and regards

Honestly, you are going to want to pull up your verbal score. With the programs you are looking at, you want at least an 80% there.

In general, b-schools are more concerned with your overall score and your quant score and will give you leniency on your verbal score in my experience. in other words, if you're going to be stronger in one area over the other, better to be stronger in quant.
