Politics and social media

Please help me understand this simple question but confusing answer--

In the Internet Age, a political candidate who buys advertising on a social network will get maximum name recognition.

The statement above logically conveys which of the following?

(A)

Social network advertising is the most important factor in political campaigns.
(B)

Maximum name recognition on a social networking website will help a candidate to win a higher percentage of votes cast.
(C)

Social network advertising reaches every demographically distinct sector of the voting population.
(D)

For maximum name recognition a candidate need not spend on media channels other than social network advertising.
(E)

A candidate's record of achievement will do little to affect his or her name recognition.

D

I agree with you on "C" since various voting population from different demographic sectors can get access to the political candidate's ad.

But here the question hints at the candidate's advertisement from his perspective.

While contesting he would not only look for accessibility of the voting population but also the amount of capital he would be investing and from that perspective when he is able to post ads on such a powerful platform like social network with the help of which the voting population can get access to the ads posted by the candidate.

Secondly it would seem more economical to the candidate to spend on social network rather than spending on media and news channels.

From that point of view "D" seems more appropriate.

Hi
According to the premise this says that advertising is important for getting recognition rather than any other thing so i think "E" is also a good contender for the answer

thanks and regards

Hey everyone. This question is from Kaplan 800 just tweaked a lil bit by changing radios to social network. Anyways, the answer choices makes the argument look complex and deep, but it is pretty straight forward.

Argument: If politician advertise in social network, they get max name recognition

Answer D: If politician want name recognition, they dun need to spend on any other media except social network. same thing !!

Hope this helps :)

If you use POE then this was not at all a tough question.
