Please advise (profile eval + admissions)

Background:
11 years of work experience in IT. 6 years in the US. Worked with major insurance and financial services clients in the US. Currently working as a technical consultant. However, would like to move into strategic management consulting/senior mgmt position.
As far as extracircullar activities, I am involved with a non-profit oraganization for couple of years now.

Recently gave gmat and scored - 640

I am planning to apply to the following schools (1 year programs):
- HEC Montreal
- HKU
- HKUST

1. Should I retake gmat?
2. Can anyone suggest other schools?
3. Chances of getting into the above mentioned schools?
4. Confused between accelerated MBA and EMBA?
I am more inclined towards accelerated MBA because my company does not sponsor for EMBA.

thanks in advance

Hello,

I do think you should retake the GMAT, for the target schools. Your chances would be so-so to not so great with the current GMAT. However, if you have an outstanding GPA from a solid undergraduate program, then that would mitigate it a bit.

An accelerated MBA is for people whose profiles are appropriate for MBA programs but do not need an internship and/or who may already have some business education. The EMBA is for people who are more advanced in their careers and are approaching a senior management role. These days, may EMBA students are not sponsored by their company financially. The company does have to still sponsor by accommodating the schedule, however.
