Dr. Philip Guiterrez is singular. So, we should use "is".

So, we can strike out A.

in addition to, as well as are not proper idioms here.

C and D out.

E : Dr. Philip Guiterrez and his four distinguished colleagues is (ARE should come instead of IS)

gmataug08,

I think E has a typo.
IS should be ARE.

can u pls clarify??

If E has ARE, then the sentence makes sense.

same question, how does B fit with the 'their' in the question stem?

my choice was D , as I tried to change the subject into plural form to suit 'their' in the question.

i think , there is typo in E and it should be 'are' and hence, 'their' usage is justified...isnt it
