Permutations , Combinations & Probability

by joymukhi » Sun May 31, 2009 11:42 pm
Hi All,

I plan to take my GMAT on 24th July & going through quantitative at the moment. Facing the heat while going through permutations & combinations & probabs. Are there any good books which explain to you the basics & provide a good amount of examples. Also what are the chances of such questions in the exam? I was browsing through 800score website & they seem to have a book on permutations & combinations ..any reviews on how 800score materials are & whether I should go for it.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Regards,
Deep

Not sure about 800Score's books but I know that its tests are pretty inaccurate. As far as permutations, combinations, and probability, I would probably suggest the Manhattan Strategy guide books.

However, do not spend too much time on any one subject, I think that I only had 1 or 2 of these types of questions on the actual GMAT. But it is still a good idea to understand these concepts, so like I said, getting the Manhattan study guides is probably a good idea.

I agree with the above, there are few questions on the test.

while they pretty much reoccur, review them in the OG11,
and while you practice review to depth each permutation problem.
