Hi, I believe the answer is C due to the following reasons. Kindly correct me if i am wrong
A) each of which consists - Which can be used only when we are able to drop the clause where it is used. So eliminate A.
B) with each of them consisting - Them pronoun doesn't clarify which is the correct antecedent. (whether colony or animals)
D) and each of them consist - Them pronoun doesn't clarify which is the correct antecedent. (whether colony or animals)
E) and each colony consisting - and is used to connect 2 independent clause whereas the second clause is not an independent clause.
