Could someone share their views on the above programs.?

I have done a lot of research on these but havent been able to visit the schools yet.

Both schools/programs are great.

MIT offers an MBA and Stanford an M.Sc in Mgt. I think an MBA degree is recognised better but then at senior positions MBA from MIT or Masters from Stanford would not matter that much. Class sizes are different. MIT has 100+ and SF 57. On one hand its good to have a network of 100 plus people vs 57 straight from class, but it also means that you wont know everyone.

While the bay area has companies that I would like to work for in the future, but eventually I will be in that community. I am thinking of utilising this time to expereince something different.

I am trying to get some opinions beyond what is already available on the internet or school's websites.

The good news is you can't blow this one. Either school is fantastic and either degree will be invaluable.

Try working backward from a list of "dream" employers. See which ones interview (and hire) on each campus. Seek out student chat rooms or blogs for each school. Stanford certainly has better weather - unless you like snow - and terrific ties to Silicon Valley. MIT has a fantastic record for turning out entrepreneurs https://www.kauffman.org/newsroom/mit-entrepreneurs.aspx and offers cross-registration opportunities with other Boston Area schools.

If at all possible, visit the schools. The atmosphere in Boston is very different from that in the Bay Area and that might help you decide. Ask the schools to put you in touch with alumni in your area and get their insights.

In the end, although the decision will be tough, you can be confident that you will get an outstanding education and a great start to your career.

Good luck,
Tani Wolff
