Hi. I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice. I am currently studying the GMAT and working on my apps to apply to bschool in 2nd round and was laid-off yesterday. Was wondering if anyone else knows anyone that this has happened to and if it negatively impacted their apps overall candidacy.

It won't negatively impact your application but it is something that you'll want to disclose and/or explain further.

Thanks for the reply Marc. I worked in the mergers & acquisitions group of a Fortune 500 civil engineering consulting firm and they downsized the group due to budgetary constraints. How much more detail or explanation will I need to put on my apps?

You may want to use your optional essay to explain this situation. Also, put in your best effort to get an excellent GMAT score and put together a strong application package.
Good luck with your application.
