"somer is having highest percentage of more than $60000", dosent mean tht it also has the highest % of more than 80000

in my opinion..

firstly,

dosent mean tht it also has the highest % of more than 80000
E says % of household having 80,000 is higher and not it has the highest % of more than 80000

"thr is a difference between higher and highest!!"

secondly,

it is possible then again tht morset has the highest % of more than 80000 !!!
if this wud have been the case then stimulus wont say

"the percentage of households with an annual income of $60,000 or more is highest in Sommer county"

This is an inference question ..so cannot doubt the info given..

Also,

If B wud have been.." Most households in Merton county have an annual income between $40,000 and $60,000."

then i wud have definately went with it...

And,

i have read somewhr.
in inference questions.." infer less"...

thx

This is clearly implied in the questions. !!!

Otherwise, how is it possible tht Morset has households with income >40000, but Somer has households with income more than 60000.
Gearing up for the D-day.

The percentage of households with an annual income of more than $40,000 is higher in Merton county than in any other county. However, the percentage of households with an annual income of $60,000 or more is highest in Sommer county

1, Merton have percentage of people with income > 40000 USD than any other county

2, Sommer have percentage of people with income > 60000 USD than any other county

1 and 2 - > E is OA
Please share your idea and your reasoning :D

A. No household in Merton county has an annual income of $60,000 or more.

B. Some households in Merton county have an annual income between $40,000 and $60,000.

C. The number of households with an annual income of more than $40,000 is greater in Merton than in Sommer county.

D. Average annual household income is higher in Sommer than in Merton county.

E. The percentage of households with an annual income of $80,000 is higher in Sommer than in Merton county.
I think we dont need to consider so complex. we dont need to consider the options that the information above didn't mention
the information mention "percentage" which means not all but part so
A.NO household means all , sounds too extream incorrect

B.between 40000-60000 the information gives us is higher than 40000 wrong

C.we dont know greater or not

D. average annual..... (irrelevent)it doesn't mention in the information

E. correct match the information mention above

I disagree. Sommer county may have zero households with income above 80.000, if 100% of its households have income between 60.000 and 80.000. 100 % is better than anything Merton County can pull-off.

However, let's consider that 100% of the Merton Conty households have an income between 40.000 and 60.000, while Sommer has 20% below 40.000 and 80% above 60.000.

above 40.000 - 100% > 80%
above 60.000 - 0% < 80 %.

This leads us to answer B.

The percentage of households with an annual income of more than $40,000 is higher in Merton county than in any other county. However, the percentage of households with an annual income of $60,000 or more is highest in Sommer county. If the statements above are true, which of the following can properly be concluded on the basis of them?

B. Some households in Merton county have an annual income between $40,000 and $60,000.

Does this need to be true? Let's make it false: No household in Merton has an income between 40k and 60k, and see what happens:

If x% of households in Merton earn more than $40k, then x% would need to earn more than $60k - not a single Merton household earns between $40k and $60k. Now, suppose y% of Sommer county households make over $40k, and z% make over $60k. Clearly y >= z; fewer people earn over $60k than earn over $40k. But we know from the question that x > y (a higher percentage in Merton earn over $40k than in any other county). If x > y, and y >= z, then x > z, which contradicts information in the question (that Sommer has a higher percentage of $60k+ earners).

That is, if we assume B is false, we get a contradiction, so B must be true.

In my opinion B is the most logical one
