What is the value of |x+5| + |x-3|?

1) x² < 25
2) x² > 9
Both statements are satisfied by x=4.
In this case, |x+5| + |x-3| = |4+5| + |4-3| = 9+1 = 10.
Both statements are satisfied by x=-4.
In this case, |x+5| + |x-3| = |-4+5| + |-4-3| = 1+7 = 8.
Since |x+5| + |x-3| can be different values, the two statements combined are INSUFFICIENT.

The correct answer is E.

Thanks Mitch for your response to both my questions. I need help on the Verbal section. I have posted few questions for which I haven't received any response. May I request you to kindly respond. Thanks again.

I don't mean to be critical, but you'll get more responses if you provide the question itself in the body of your post. (Downloading documents from the internet is a virus risk.)
