Hi,
I really need help in building a good profile for MBA application. I am a software Engineer from India. My Education and academic background is as follows:
GMAT Score: 690 AWA: 6.0
Education: B.E REC, Nagpur.( 70%, GPA: 2).
Extra Curicullar Activities: Part of organizing committe for Cultural gatherings in College.
I have been working in TCS (Tata Consultancy Services) since 2000. I have performed roles such as Project Leader, Technical Leader etc. I know that I don't have enough extra curicullar activities, however I would like to know how can I make a better profile for MBA applications in next year.
I didn't get shortlisted for interviews at ISB. I wondering what could be the reason. Should I join some NGO on a part time basis to improve my profile.
Any help in this regard will be appreciated.
Regards
Abhijit

Hi Abhijit,
Without reading your essays, I can imagine that extracurricular activities would help, along with very clearly articulating your goals and expressing your leadership and management potential.
I would spend the next year working very seriously on a extracurricular that has meaning for you, either personally or as part of your career goals, and trying to take a leadership position with the organization.
Good luck!
Amy

Hi Amy,
I am planning for a GMAT retake. Will a score of 730-740 help in the application process??

Hi Abhijit,
A higher GMAT score never hurts. I wouldn't neglect the leadership and volunteering aspect for a higher GMAT however, but if you can do both, it certainly can help.
