help me

by shuwa » Fri Oct 07, 2011 10:07 am
In place of the GMAT, the Admissions Committee will accept GRE (Graduate Record Examination) test scores for applicants who have not taken the GMAT within the last five years. If you have taken both the GMAT and GRE within the last five years, only your GMAT scores will be considered. GRE scores are only valid if the GMAT was not taken after January 2005 and if the GRE was taken after January 1, 2010

I don't see this sentence, If I don't submit Gmat, then school still know that I took or not gmat test?.

Or when I submit score either gmat and gre , school will only consider gmat score? confuse!!!!!!

Hi shuwa, it is confusing - Columbia does things differently than other schools.

They're saying that they prefer the GMAT score. They will only accept the GRE if you have not taken the GMAT in the last five years. If you've already taken the GMAT score at least once, you need to submit that score for Columbia.

Hope this helps!

Since GRE is considered to be easier, doing well on the GMAT may benefit you more as it is a better reflection of your abilities than doing well on the GRE.

As a consultant if I have two people one with GRE and other with GMAT and both at same percentile, I would admit the individual who did well on the GMAT over the one that did well on the GRE.
This reflects in the top BSchools like Columbia's message on the website.

Its tricky, but basically, come clean! Meaning if you took the GMAT, you gotta report the GMAT, even if its equivalent score is lower.
