Is it that you got a ding letter or you just haven't heard about an interview? I know that 90% of invites went out on friday, but I believe someone told me that the other 10% trickle in here and there... maybe all hope is not lost?!? ::crossing fingers::

I applied R1 and got a ding letter w/o even interviewing.

money- Still no ding letter, but still no interview. We'll see....

I seriously doubt GMAT plays that much of role in your application to HBS. I too was rejected HBS in the first round and I had 730 for my GMAT. I think your extracurricular activities (during school and during your professional career), essays, work experience and recommendations generally are more critical in terms of 'qualification' than your GMAT score to many top tier schools. There are plenty of applicants with high GMAT scores who weren't admitted to top 10.

I agree that HBS is a total crapshoot and I question how much your GMAT score has to do with your success in gaining admission. I have a 760, a near perfect GPA in college and 4 years of experience at some of the most prestigious investment firms (where nearly all of the senior people were HBS graduates) and I did not get an interview at this point. From what I have seen of friends that got in it seems like an Ivy League undergrad degree carries a lot of wieght as well. This I do not have.

Obviously one can be successful no matter where they went to school. Harvard doesn't turn losers into winners. It only takes winners who would be winners if they had Harvard degree or not...

Not to console somebody but I don't understand what Harvard special offer? I have no Ivy league or even a reputed degree from any prestigous college. During my experience at a fortune 50 company, my immediate boss was a HBS alumni and a PhD economics degree holder from Uchicago-booth. During my working experience of 11 months at that client, many times new contractors and consultant in our department were confused because they couldn't figureout that I am NOT the Chief BUT the HBS, UCHICAGO guy is the boss. So it really depends on your depth of knowledge and How you maintain your presence in Organization. My ability and habbit to challenge, push back, demonstrate achievements and screw/grill others on the basis of depth of knowledge has given me same ego-satisfaction and leadership that one will have to take a HBS degree after sepnding 175,000$.

with HBS comes brand recognition... great education... and the most phenomenal network...

Well, I did get dinged at HBS. Disappointing, yes, but I also got accepted into BC CSOM, which was my second choice school.

I am very excited to be a BC MBA Candidate and am going to live up every minute of my next two years in the beautiful city of Boston!!

And I am also looking forward to competing against HBS MBAs for jobs in two years. I've always liked taking on the big dogs and most of the time, I win...
