MBA.com free tests and Gmatfocus

by jiujitsubri » Sun Jul 20, 2008 3:51 pm
When you register to take the gmat you get two free exams, I also notice you can purchase CAT practice exams from their site which is gmatfocus. My questions is, does gmatfocus offer more than the two free exams, or are they the same?

I just signed up for that tonight. It's different "actual questions" if that's what you're asking. It's shorter but it covers the range of question types; it's more of a diagnostic than a practice test, although it does give you an expected scaled score range.

It seems to have an NDA attached to it, like the actual GMAT, so I can't really say much more :)

I'm happy with the questions. They're tough and if I'm paying money, I want them to hit me with the sort of tough questions that they're gonna throw at me on the actual exam.

GMATFocus does have different questions than those contained in GMATPrep or OG. All of these sources contain recently-retired, real GMAT questions, and GMATFocus is the most recent source of all three. It was just launched a few months ago and the questions generally seem to be of high quality.

As Senator 153 said, GMATFocus is designed to be a diagnostic test. There are 24 questions in a set and you will get data at the end about your strengths and weaknesses, and suggestions about what to study from OG based on those strengths and weaknesses.

As of right now, GMATFocus is only available for quant. I don't know when the verbal one will be released; I last talked to my GMAC contact about this a few months ago and she said, at that time, that there was no specific target release date for the verbal portion.

Thanks for the reply.

Do the 2 free gmat tests, provide feedback on strengths and weakness as well? Am I getting more in paying for gmatfocus, or am I just getting additional material/practice
