Sequence Problems

by Kobe_Kassidy » Fri Aug 10, 2012 9:10 am
I have noticed that questions involving a large sequence or string of numbers have caused me more trouble than any other type.

The h(100) question, for example. I saw how people broke it down to get the answer. I don't know that I would have ever been able to figure out that method, and certainly not in 2 minutes.

Obviously, the GMAT isn't expecting us to do the extensive calculations, and there are methods/number properties that help us break it all down to where we can identify an answer. I am just not very good at figuring those methods out for a particular problem.

Anyone have advice on methods/strategies you may use to attack these types of questions?

I appreciate any help you can offer.

Hi KK,

There is one best way to find short-cut methods and that is "More and more practice".

Even I used to wonder like you on how to get shorter methods when I was in my initial stage of preparations.
Now, after continuous practice, the shortest and smartest method automatically strikes me.

Try it... a two month dedicated preparation will start showing results.

All the best :-) :D
