E is not ok, since u have already the word "today", but at the same time u try to use the word "now". they are similar in the meaning.
u dont say -today I am here now.

A - 'their' is ambiguous can refer to cars/manufacturers. 'Now' is redundant
B - same error as above 'their' is ambiguous
D - 'their' is ambiguous
E - 'now' is redundant
D/E - more fuel efficient small cars - number of fuel efficient small cars is greater, whereas actual meaning is small cars that are more fuel efficient - fuel efficiency is higher - there is a difference in meaning. The original sentence gives importance to fuel efficiency while D/E gives importance number of fuel efficient cars. Stick to original so eliminate these.

IMO C.
