Hi ,
I have completed a PGP Diploma 2-year course in Advanced Construction Management after my graduation in Civil Engineering. This April(2015), I shall be having 2 years of work experience in the construction field.
Is this the right time to go for an MBA ?
My main focus is on the placement.
Also , is it okay if I do a one year course as I already have done a management course ?
Kindly reply .
Regards

Well, one thing to take into consideration is the average age and work experience of MBA people. It is different if you are planning on staying in India, or if you are going abroad. But often MBA folks have 3-6 years of experience in the bag already.
But just compare your profile with the stats of the admitted class at the programs you are looking at, and you will get a better idea of what's what!
Best,
Jon

Hey there!
Jon's spot on with the range of work experience needed for most MBA programs. After you map your experience against the averages for your target MBA programs, the key thing to consider is the richness of your work experience. What growth did you undergo throughout your career? Have you had a chance to solve sophisticated, difficult problems? Have you led a substantial team? What results did you deliver? Can you draw upon work experiences that will benefit your classmates in your MBA program? If you don't have good answers to these, you'll want to continue your work experience until you do.
As for 1 year versus 2 year programs, how convenient, we have a video about this! [Watch it here]

Hi Abhishek,
Nice to know that you are planning for second MBA. You need to brainstorm about why you need second MBA and how will it help to achieve your career goals. You are at the right stage of your career with 2 years work experience and most of the applicants are between 2-7 years work experience. You can apply to schools like ISB, XLRI, SP Jain, Greatlakes in India. So go ahead and apply with solid preparation.

You only have two years of full time work experience? I don't know, seems pretty rushed to me. How have you scored on the gmat? Why do you want an mba? What have you accomplished in your short career? You'll need to score really well on all of these questions to have a shot at a top full time mba program. Good luck to you!
