Down but not out 660 ( 49 Q, V 31 )

Hi All,

I have been following threads regularly on BTG for past 2 months. I took the test yesterday and scored a lowly 660. But that doesn't mean that I have given up. In fact, I am ready to make amends already.

GMAT experience: Well, to be really honest I was very well prepared. I was confident but when the exam started I could feel the moment get to me but it lasted only about 10 minutes. Since I was writing AWA that time I was not affected too much. After that I could settle into my usual rhythm. Essays were pretty straight forward. Quant was similar to GMAT prep and OG. I could identify the traps in most of the questions. I however, made three silly mistakes and that I think made the difference between I scoring 50 or above in quant. Verbal was again very similar to GMAT prep. SC was similar to OG , CR was tricky with many complete the argument questions. RC passages were easy to comprehend but the answer options were very close and I was normally stuck between two options.

  • GMATPrep1 44 36 660 (3 mths bfr exam)

    GMATPrep1 retake 48 34 680 (2 mths bfr exam)

    Kaplan GMAT1 49 26 650 (6 weeks bfr exam)

    Kaplan GMAT2 45 38 660 (5 weeks bfr exam)

    Kaplan GMAT3 52 35 710 (4 weeks bfr exam)

    GMATPrep 1 retake2 50 35 700 (3 weeks bfr exam)

Princeton free test 48 39 700 (2 weeks bfr exam)

    GMATPrep 2 49 35 690 (2 weeks bfr exam)

    Kaplan GMAT 4 50 29 670 (8 days bfr exam)

Manhattan free test 46 32 640 (4 days bfr exam)

    GMATPrep 2 retake2 50 37 710 (2 days bfr exam)
I really thought based on my practice scores that 700+ score was possible but GMAT proved it otherwise. I need to concentrate on verbal for my retake. Any suggestion regarding study material will be of great help.

Sounds like bad luck on test day. I'm sure you'll get it next time
I do not have superior intelligence or faultless looks. I do not captivate a room or run a mile under six minutes. I only succeeded because I was still working long after everyone else went to sleep.
