What is the difference b.w these 2 phrases:
not only helps to control the employer’s costs, but also helps
AND
helps to not only control the employer’s costs, but also helps
I seem to come acrosss this situation too many times and I do not know how to identify the correct placement of the 'not only' words..
Please explain.
Doubt in word placement....

Correct usage is " Not Only X but also Y", X and Y should be parallel

Bold part are parallel. hence correct usage
helps to not only control the employer’s costs, but also helps
Here bold parts are not parallel..hence second statement is not a correct usage
