Completely shattered. 570 to 550 :'(

by dreadnought48 » Mon Nov 21, 2011 1:59 am
I just took GMAT this morning. My first attempt was about one and half month ago (570 Q45 24) My score went down. I'm really sad and disappointed with the score. I was shocked when the screen came up with 550(Q44 V22). I couldn't believe my eyes!

I've been studying full time for one month and a half after my first attempt.(I do not work full-time because I know that I wouldn't be able to study by the end of the working days) I put my efforts and dedicate all my time for the prep everyday and basically study around 8 hours-10 hours a day. For the first four weeks of my study, I was so motivated and was not tired at all. I felt that I wanted to give my best so that I don't regret in the end. I gave up social life and everything. I also gained weight because I did not want to do anything else apart from studying. How bizarre. Surprisingly, it didn't bother me at all. However, the last two weeks before the exam, my energy dropped. Despite this, I still felt good because I thought that I probably studied quite enough to get around 600+ at least. I took mock tests and my highest score was 660 (MGMAT Q45 V35). I took GMATPREP one time but I couldn't see the score ( probably I clicked too fast that the window went off).

And today, the score was just disappointing. I was able to sleep the night before the exam (unlike my first attempt). I was not nervous at all and was rather focused. I did run out of time in verbal part because I took too much time on the first few questions. I didn't think the questions were too hard or of the level that I haven't seen or had difficult language. Yet, I scored even lower!! Now I'm too disheartened by the result. I have only one last chance in Jan to get my application in time for the 2nd round(last round) of my dream uni. Please share your thoughts. :(

you've burnt yourself till the end
how you could study 8+ hours a day? have you analyzed the content studied or ran through drills? I am asking this question because even the think tanks are unable to concentrate on mental (mental, I mean) work more than 4.5 hours according to the advanced brain and cognitive science stats. You studied more and perhaps concentrated on non-metal sides of exam, like familiar topics and easy to spot patterns, glazing at passages, etc. correct? how your brain sustained 8+ hours a day?
Success doesn't come overnight!
