i must say this is a nice one..
:)

Here, there are two types of accidents:

1. Due to poor visibility and road conditions
(due to these reasons people used to avoid it night)

2. Accidents due to increase of traffic on the narrow roads.

Now, even after markings , the number of accidents increased.

E says,
That means the people who used to avoid these roads started using it, especially at night. ..(here,there is a difference between poor visibility and total lack of visibility(i.e at night))

Thus as many people took that road at night.. there were more accidents due to lack of visibility and road conditions.

thanks.

Note:there is no mention of visibility of markings at "night".

@raunekk

I think the choice E feels like a double negative sentence. On close inspection I feel that it means, The drivers who were avoiding the road due to accidents and lack of markings after knowing that markings have been made started using the road. Hence the users in the road increased. and therefore the Slight increase.

GMAT trick us on Subtle points....

exactly saege..

i was tryin to say the same

.. as many people who used to avoid it earlier started using it d traffic increased ...

There was no problem in the day time as they could use the markings.(when the visiblility was poor)

But at the night time markings couldnt be used and as there was more traffic there were more accidents.

i must say its very tricky...its not possible (atleast for me) to crack this within stipulated time of 2 mins..

I am leaning more towards E, but I'm not sure about it.
