CR SMOKER

Maureen, a smoker, is a resident of the State of Wissesota. Wissesota has instituted a very high tax on cigarettes to discourage smoking. Maureen lives about 40 miles away from the neighboring State of Minconsin, a tobacco-growing state where cigarettes are tax free. It is cheaper for Maureen to obtain her cigarettes in Minconsin than in Wissesota.

(A) Beer and wine are also cheaper in Minconsin than in Wissesota.

(B) It is a violation of Wissesota state law for a resident of Wissesota to bring cigarettes purchased in another state across Wissesota state lines.

(C) The cost of transporting cigarettes from Minconsin to Wissesota is less per pack than the sales tax on each pack of cigarettes purchased in Wissesota.

(D) With gas prices at an all-time high, it is more expensive to drive to Minconsin to buy cigarettes than to pay the high cigarette tax in Wissesota.

(E) Tobacco farming has been the linchpin of the Minconsin economy for decades.
