It is C because:

B
The ability of scientists has become ever more accurate...is not correct
A and E
The ability... have - incorrect
D
ability for - incorrect
C
Scientists have become able to provide ever more accurate models...
Not the best sounding statement, but scientists...provide more accurate models is correct
Also better usage of "such as" compared to other options.

My suggestion:
In questions where you feel that nothing sounds good, choose the best among the lot. While doing it, please use following trick:
1. Process of elimination (POE)
2. Focus on the rules you know. It so happens sometime that sticking to books is helpful in GMAT.

Lets take up this approach. I may be wrong, but atleast you would get a direction or a new funda to note down.

A: Ability....have is wrong. Correctly identified by arocks.
E: Same as A. Igonore A and E
B: Can anyone have accurate ability? I have never heard of such thing. Ignore it.

D: Wrong idiom. Coreect idiom is "Ability to"

So, go with C.
