it means 80% of accepted students will join the college.
since 80 % of accepted students=x
so accepted students=1.25x
since 80 % of accepted students=x
so accepted students=1.25x

Plug in x=80. This represents the desired enrollment.Viper83 wrote:A admin officer predicts that 20% of the students who are accepted will not attend college. According to this prediction, how many students should be accepted to achieve a planned enrollment of x students?

For an enrollment of 80 students, 100 must be accepted (since 20% will not attend college).
Now we plug x=80 (the desired enrollment) into all the answer choices to see which yields 100 (the number of students that must be accepted).
Only answer choice D works:
1.25*80 = 100.
The correct answer is D.
