The production of the CB includes both its INCEPTION and its COMPLETION.
In other words, when the CB was MADE.
The support the hypothesis that the CB was produced in 1148, the correct answer choice must strengthen the assumption that all four copyists worked in 1148 to MAKE the CB.
Only the OA supports this assumption.
Timeline is like this -

80% work complete -------Some Disruption Happened-----the later 3 More writers added stuff.

Then according to your last answer, everything happened in 1148, including plague?
Yes.
The OA supports the assumption that everything -- including the plague -- occurred in 1148.
Thanks Mitch.
Can you please also analyze all other options ? On what basis we are eliminating other options ?

a) Other than Codex Berinensis, there are no known samples of the handwriting of the first three copyists.
This option seems designed to weaken the PREMISE that four copyists produced the CB, since the work of the first three copyists cannot be compared to known handwriting samples.
A premise is a FACT.
It cannot be weakened.
Eliminate A.

b) According to the account by the fourth copyist, the plague went on for ten months.
If the 10-month period began in 1147, then the first three copyists could have been killed by the plague in 1147 -- WEAKENING the conclusion that the CB was produced in 1148.
Eliminate B.

c) A scribe would be able to copy a page of text the size and style of Codex Berinensis in a day.
Implication:
The 100 pages of the CB could have been produced in 100 days.
If the 100-day period began in 1147, then the first three copyists could have been produced their pages in 1147 -- WEAKENING the conclusion that the CB was produced in 1148.
Eliminate C.

e) The number of pages of Codex Berinensis produced by a single scribe becomes smaller with each successive change of copyist
The size of the text tells us nothing about when the text was transcribed.
Eliminate E.
