Business Plan Competitions

Post Thu Jul 07, 2011 11:21 am

I'm interested in participating in a business plan competition once I get to B-school. I was wondering about some of the logistics/timing things associated with the plans. Do first and second years both typically compete? Is there time to work on extra-curriculars like this? Is it enjoyable? I'd love to hear about the experience from anyone that has participated.

Thanks in advance.

Absolutely! Business plan competitions are a blast during business school. You'll get the chance to work with your classmates on interesting problems, impress potential employers and even make a few dollars if you win one. You'll definitely be able to make time for them despite the heavy workload of business school. Just about everyone will do one in school.

Hey! I participated in a business plan competition last year.
I have no idea if the first year can compete, but second 100% as I participated when I was second year of studies. What do you mean by logistics/timing things ?
When I participated I had to write my paper for me business plan within a stated deadline, that's it.

Or you mean some other business plan competition? What will you have to do during that competition?

I've also participated in Business Plan competition in NY Business Plan Competition some years ago, as we produced a new concept of work name as Virtual assistant all the client handling and work handling will be done virtually in order save time and plus its a cheap way to get business running with no guarantee of loss, thou we didn't win, as the competition was tough, people were bringing creative ideas for businesses, but now we see they are many companies that has formed VA business, just wanted to let them know, it was our idea, we did some research work from papers arena, Wikipedia and encyclopedia after long hours and days of research work, we ended up having VA as our business plan.
