Booth MBA and Startup Experience

by EMAN » Mon Mar 01, 2010 9:59 am
I'm currently working in Corporate Finance and thinking of quitting and moving to the West Coast to work for a startup founded by a family member. I'm applying this Fall so I'd be only in that role for about six months by the time I apply. I noticed Booth has more large firm representation I am curious if such a potentially risky move could possibly damage my application to the school or any other tier one (ignoring any issues with keeping my current job's recommenders) Any insight is greatly appreciated. My rationale is that there has been a major change in my personal situation and I'd like to diversify my experience before business school. I'll probably take another finance or investment related job to maintain income while working at a startup from time to time if possible.
