Best Admission Consulting Service?

by bostown » Wed Aug 04, 2010 7:03 am
I'm currently looking for some help from the experts on my application. What I'm looking for is:

1. Someone really understands the application
2. Someone can do a clearly better job than myself on some application process (I'm currently reading all the application books on the market)
3. Someone can add value to my application and increase my chance to be admitted by top programs

Any advices on the various admission consulting services available?

Thanks a lot!

Hey Bostown,
I have heard Kaneisha's webinar recently and looking at her impressive clientiele, I am positive about working with her for my essays. The best thing is she was a non traditional applicant with a low GMAT score and she got in HBS. So she sure knows to work her way in essays. I feel she is very good at her job and can bring amazing stories from your life. Her site is : theartofapplying.com
Reach her out for a 30 minute free consultation and see if she works for you!

Do you know among those consultants on the forum such as accepted.com, clear admit, stacy blackman, etc., which one has the best feedback from candidates?

Thanks.

I honestly dont know. I am an Indian applicant and according to me they are very costly! There is a nice yummy offer at Kaneisha's and I like her coaching too. So I joined her's. You can do some research on their sites and see which one works for you.

Hi there, I came across this thread while I was looking for somewhere to leave some praise for my experience with Stacy Blackman Consulting, so thought I would add my opinion for those who were asking about their services. I have been working with SBC since April for the first round of b-school apps and I have loved my experience with them. My advisor has been patient with me and done edit after edit of my essays to make sure they are just right for the questions being asked. She spent the first few weeks really getting to know me and my "story" so she could help me identify my brand and articulate it to the admissions committee through my application and essays. She also recommended the "essay guides" as a way to help me get started with my essays, which were so helpful to get the ball rolling. Once I had words on paper, she helped me cut out excess and create more concise sentences to cut my word count since I have a tendency to write long-winded paragraphs haha. She has also been coaching me on how to make a good impression in interviews and the questions I may encounter, including how to spin negative things about me into a positive. I was really impressed with her professionalism without feeling like I was being babied or talked down to, which was part of the reason I went with SBC in the first place. A couple of the other consultancies I called made me feel like I was reaching too high or talked down to me, but my consultant had high hopes and expectations for me and helped me make the best possible application. I am very proud of the work we did and the final outcome! She really has been with me every step of the way, and I am feeling more than confident about my application now -- which is amazing because I was so apprehensive about even applying to b-school when I started. For those of you considering using a b-school advisor or application help, I highly recommend Stacy Blackman Consultants!

I used SBC in 2009, and got into my top 3 schools! Five stars from me!

Interview invites for Round 1 start going out Friday! Get ready using the unofficial HBS Interview Guide. Real interview questions from last years interviews. Real HBS students giving advice on what they would have could have done better.

Get the Unofficial HBS Interview Guide for only $35.00! Created by HBS Students for future HBS students.

https://tiny.cc/HBSInterview

Reviews from admitted HBS students who purchased the guide last year:

"The guide was very useful and practical. Thanks for the great tips!"

"Very good. I was prepared for 80% of the questions. The remainder was mostly specific to my application."

"The HBS interview is very different from other schools in that it goes into extreme depth on the applicant's background, career, and most importantly, choices. My interview spanned my whole adult life in about 10 minutes. Because of the guide I was prepared for this line of questioning, and fully prepared to explain and defend the major choices I have made in life."

Thanks for the props, Fibbonnacci!

I used to write for the Harbus when I was at Harvard, and I also recommend the book they mentioned.

I hope Stacy Blackman Consulting read that great testimonial about her company!

I specialize in working with non-traditional applicants with high hopes for business school, so if that sounds like you, come check me out.

Good luck!
